Spillman Users Conference

i love my job.
my coworkers are fantastic.
my company is awesome.

we had our annual users conference in september, this is where spillman users come from all around the country to learn about ways to make their software investment go further.
not only is users conference all about work and technology, but we play pretty hard too.
it's really fun to see our customers from all over and spend a whole week downtown.
this year i was on the users conference committee and it was great being in the middle of all the action. spillman paid for me to stay downtown, and i brought scott along with me. it was really fun.
they put us up in the radisson, which was really nice hotel, i was totally impressed!

the view of the valley from our room

some shots from around the salt palace

(those red walls were really messing with my white balance...)

Monday night was the best night of all, Spillman was able to get a private concert with the country group Lonestar - it was FANTASTIC to say the least! Being on the Users Conference committee, we were able to go back stage and meet the band, they were so nice and so genuine - little did i know that was the beginning of their generosity

The drummer thought it was cute that i was so little and having a hard time to find a place to stand - so he asked if he could pick me up... you'd be surprised how often things like this happen...
and yes... i do realize now the placement of his hand, and i think it was total accident, he was a very respectful and nice guy, Scott was less than impressed, but i had no clue until i saw the picture...

So I have to back up a little bit... it had been raining for most of the day of the concert.. it started to lift while we were driving up to Deer Valley's Amphitheater, so we were hopeful...
apparently our hope wasn't enough... it POURED rain! like it was raining while we were eating and waiting for the concert to start... but once it started, it poured. we gave everyone ponchos, but it was almost pointless... it rained so hard, you were better off joining, not beating... i was soaked to say the least.

Lonestar totally felt bad... here they were covered on the stage while all of us sit on the grass slowly becoming completely water logged...
after about 30mins of being in the rain, Richie, the lead singer stopped the concert and invited the whole crowd onto the stage to get out of the pouring rain... he then proceeded to continue the concert in mosh pit style minus the crowd surfing (this is country music, remember)

i was shocked how many people fit on that stage

Richie even donned a poncho with us - it was seriously so cool!

of course, about 4 songs in, the rain let up... he asked if we wanted to go back to our soaking wet seats... :) so the concert continued with the most amazing sunset in the background to top it all off.

goodness, deer valley is beautiful

the concert continued for another hour or so, and they band was so nice to let people come up and take pictures with them in the middle of singing, so of course, who wouldn't take advantage of it?

Jenny and Scott were my awesome companions... but not nearly as excited as i was... they spent most of the night right here...

all in all, the concert was obviously the highlight of Users Conference... we had tons of people telling us good luck topping that next year - ha, no joke, Lonestar made it amazing!

The conference continued until Thursday... lots of busy days with our customers. I was able to sneak into my Dad's class and check out his Mobile Demo (yeah.. both Emily and my Dad work at Spillman)
It was fun to watch my Dad in action.. i mean not nearly as exciting as being a police officer, but fun none the less

prepping

class time

the conference was really successful, and it is always a good time for everyone who comes, employees and customers

The conference always ends with a closing banquet and the unofficial after party at Keys on Main... (more on that later)
we had delicious food, funny jokes, and lots of awards/recognition's at the closing banquet. My boss, Corey, is the entertainment for the closing ceremonies... he is one funny guy. he is witty, yet classy, the biggest Denver Brocnos fan and can make anyone laugh. They introduced him with this video.. which captures his humor so well.

This is from Dinner.. again, white balance on my phone was totally off...
i am the lone girl in a department of 12 guys, all of whom i totally love! it's like having 12 older brothers!

Caleb, Jon, Mark

Randy, Josh, Craig
Craig is actually a manager of the Install department, and wouldn't want to be classified as "one of my boys"
so i have to clarify (he pretends to be grumpy, but he really is a softy)

Me, Troy, Neil, McCoy

Sitting on other tables were Evan and Jeff and of course Corey being the MC :)

The after party at Keys on Main was a riot... I have to admit something here.. i had never been to a bar before.. like i've sat at the bar at Applebees... but like a bar bar... nope. this was an experience and it honestly was so much fun!
so Scott, myself, and the boys up above were the classic "sober group" of people there. and i must say, we were by far the most entertaining. For those of you who haven't been to Keys on Main, its a dueling Piano bar (with some serious talent i might add) where you pay money to have them play a song.. which you can dedicate to someone if you want.
we have quite a few personalities in my department, and both Jon and Troy were called out... and like i said, being the sober ones, they were by far the most entertaining.. who knew they both had moves like they do...
I only have still pictures of them... but it was amazing.

Troy

 Jon

and then we finally come to an end...
i rode trax home.. totally felt like a commuter (why would we want to pay for two cars at the hotel?)

until next year's Users Conference!
