27 Weeks

"you will triple in size over the next couple of weeks"
"realistically, your water could break anyday"
"if your contractions are consistent and have a pattern, then i need to know"
"if the baby doesn't move like he usually does, or isn't very active, i need to know"
"your Iron is really low, we need you to take an iron supplement, it might make you sick again" (again? its never really left...)

all things told to me by my Doctor at my last appointment....

and i thought it was getting real a few weeks ago... well now i head into the 3rd trimester tomorrow... umm, what?

I really haven't felt that overwhelmed or anything until this week... its like a massive switch was flipped...

  • I have turned into a major crier... which is more like my norm... but all crying emotions left me the past 7 months.
  • i haven't really been scared or anything, i mean i used to help deliver babies... until this week, now the whole thing just freaks the crap out of me. you want a baby to come out of where?
  • we started... yes started to register yesterday. so.overwhelming. like i want advice and input, but not really... have i mentioned i also have become kinda grumpy?
  • i have never had my blue personality and red personality duke it out so much. usually one is more dominant than the other in the appropriate place and time. not anymore.
  • i have never felt so.... dumb? in my life.... like to me, knowledge is power... and i have no idea what to do, how to do it, how to feel, where to go with ideas... again, so.overwhelming.
i do have to mention though... i have a saint of a husband. i think we all already knew that though.. i mean, he has been married to me for over 3 years... that's Sainthood in itself. but he has been so sweet and helpful and calming during all this.
and since i am bragging about him, i feel like this is the appropriate place to insert a charming picture of him. this is Scotty and our friend's little boy, Maddux.  Maddux loves Scotty and Scotty loves him. it seriously just melts my heart. (and his long hair in the back too!) not like 3 seconds after this, Maddux laid his head on Scott's shoulder. awwww, collective sigh

life is crazy, and this all still feels very unreal... and i am sure it will for sometime.. even as he kicks me, like right now, its just weird... like i know there is a baby in there, but i have no idea what he looks like.. (cute hopefully... oh and healthy too :) ) we are excited, scared, overwhelmed, freaked out, stressed, happy, and antsy all at the same time :)

oh, and the whole.... you'll triple in size over the next couple weeks, was not a joke.

i blame my cardigan being a little big in the back... i swear, i'm not that big

yes, that is my work bathroom (seems to be one of the few places i remember to take a pic...)

How far along? 27 weeks
Baby Size: Head of Cauliflower
Total weight gain/loss: finally am gaining.. up about 12lbs
Maternity clothes? yes, super comfy! very silly looking, but comfy
Stretch marks? not yet.. keep fingers crossed!
Sleep: its still okay, definitely not as good as it used to be. only 12 more weeks then i can sleep on my tummy!
Miss Anything? sleeping on my tummy, eating whatever i want and not wondering if its gonna make me sick or give me indigestion, being able to move freely?? i feel restricted sometimes in how quick i move..? oh, and eating a meal without taking a Zofran
Movement: lots and lots. he prefers my right ribs and kicking/punching "down there" which really really hurts. he never hangs out on the left... just the right
Food cravings: i can't get enough sweets... but i may just be justifying me eating them a lot ;)
Have you started to show yet: yes!
Best moment this week: okay, quick, cute story. so i was at Target the other night, ran in right before they closed to get some dog bones (aka puppy pacifiers). I was hurrying to the register as i passed a kid, who was probably like 13? he was on the opposite side of the aisle then me, and as i passed him, I smiled at him and he smiled back even bigger and nicely said "Congratulations!" and then just kept walking.
i thought it was so nice, it totally took me by surprise. I said thanks and kept walking by. kudos to his Mom for teaching him to give compliments and to be sweet to women!
Gender: boy!
Labor Signs: um,a little bit of cramping, a few braxton hicks, but not painful ones..
Belly Button in or out? steadily on its way out...
Wedding rings on or off? On for now... hopefully it will cool down quick!
Symptoms: throwing up on and off, indigestion, cramping, nothing too much tho
Happy or Moody most of the time: ha, see above
Looking forward to: our 3D ultrasound tomorrow with the NuMOM2BE Study!
